She is trapped who fears her Guardian
Guarding her by day or night;
In its vigil always pinioned,
Fearing when the Guardian smites.
~Come ye now, across the veil;
~See what love there does entail.
Force to match a thousand regiments
Seething in her fear-drowned ice;
Force that brings a thousand detriments,
Freezing kin before her eyes.
~Come ye now, across the veil;
~See what love there does entail.
She heeds not her other Sentinel
Calling from the other side;
From the side of fun and festival
From a younger, brighter tide.
~Come ye now, across the veil;
~See what love there does entail.
Will to shake the earth unshakeable
Reaching out to her alone;
Will to brave the fells unbreakable
Reaching out to guide her home.
~Come ye now, across the veil;
~See what love there does entail.
One is power, cold and wonderful,
Gifted to a golden dell;
One is wonder, warm and powerful,
Gifted from a glacial well.
~Come ye now, across the veil;
~See what love there does entail.
Shine on, Sentinel, meet your destiny,
Shine on life and shine on death;
Shine, and so restore your finity,
Time cannot yet steal your breath.
~You are come, across the veil;
~See what love there does entail.
Open, Guardian, pained and penitent,
Open your cold door and see;
Far away, the spirit reticent
Hath in store far more for ye.
~You are come, across the veil;
~See what love there does entail.

Goodness this drawing is old. And still crappy. But it is the retroactive inspiration for this poem.
As a side note, without Frozen II, there is no way I could ever have found the words for this poem. So even though it’s a movie with a giant plot hole, points for allowing some crazy worldbuilding. It’s the epic-ness of the movie’s tone, which I’ve probably talked about before.

Brilliant poem. I very much appreciate the complementary duality of Guardian and Sentinel. It feels like it could apply to other mythic sibling archetypes like the Sun and Moon, Izanami and Izanagi. Of course, the unique relationship between Elsa and Anna is different.

Hey AG,
Thanks for the comment!
Shoutout to @bitesizedbrains also for the idea of Anna being Elsa’s Sentinel, more than half a year ago 😀
