La puerta hacia el amor (Español) [Love Is An Open Door]

Click here to skip Let It Go rant.

Many people know the song ‘Let It Go’. More importantly for this post, many people know the pop versions of ‘Let It Go’. I have even made a blog post about the English one, performed by Demi Lovato, per request.

And the English version was hardly the end of it. The pop version of Let It Go exists also in:

There must be more that I don’t know about.

But…why?

‘Let It Go’ is a highly contextual song – without the knowledge that Elsa is the original singer, and that Elsa is a queen, the line ‘A kingdom of isolation / And it looks like I’m the queen’ makes very little sense in a pop song. Without the knowledge that Elsa is a master of ice, the line ‘The snow glows white on the mountain tonight’ also makes very little sense. The only reason the pop versions could fly was because millions had already seen the movie and knew the context.

So, let me introduce another Frozen song that has a pop version – and that doesn’t need the context of Frozen to be awesome!

This song was actually played during the credits of the Spanish version of Frozen!

How do I know? I watched it, of course!

Lyrics and translation below~~~

Life gave me a thousand doors in my face / And suddenly I bumped into you

I’ve always looked for a place where I am happy / Where there’s always a fiesta, and you’re together with me

And at last I met you / For the first time, I feel it has opened:

La puerta hacia el ¡amo-o-or! La puerta hacia el ¡amo-o-or!
The door to lo-o-ove! The door to lo-o-ove!

The door to love / It’s opened, it’s opened! / The door to love

(One, two, three, four)

Te has dado cuenta / Nos gusta la misma música
You realised it / We like the same music

Somos los dos igual (¡whoo!) / Somo tal para cual (¡whoo!)
We’re two of a kind / We’re made for each other

Siempre estamos sincronizados / A tiempo y armonizados
We’re always synchronised / In time and harmonization

Tu y yo juntos hasta el fin
You and me, together till the end

Di adiós a tu vida anterior / Es nuestra oportunidad de ¡abrir…!
Say goodbye to your previous life / It’s our opportunity to open…!

La puerta hacia el ¡amo-o-or! La puerta hacia el ¡amo-o-or!
The door to lo-o-ove! The door to lo-o-ove!

The door to love / It’s opened, it’s opened! / The door to love

¡O, o, o! La puerta hacia el amor se abrió
Oh, oh, oh! The door to love, it’s opened

[something I can’t hear] mejor ¡mejor!
…better, better!

Vamos hacia el amor…
Let’s go towards love…

La puerta hacia el amor…
The door to love…

If you couldn’t tell, I had a lot of fun doing this!

If anyone knows what he’s saying in that line with [something I can’t hear], please let me know! I hear vamos a la mejor, but that’s most likely not correct.

Hmm…this post might be a good intro to a post on my thoughts on Hans.

And please, comment, share, & ¡subscríbete!

Fun fact: Abraham Mateo is my age. Goodness, he recorded this when he was 15 years old! Time for me to buck up, I guess!

  1. Beautiful Spanish-language translation of this song. The English version of this song is barely acknowledged these days because it was sung “in bad faith and deception” by Hans. But this is otherwise a great duet. As a composition it stands solidly on its own.

    1. I choose to believe that Hans was not yet hell bent on the crocus throne when he sang that; and that reading into ‘find my own place’ and ‘that’s what I was gonna say!’ etc are overthinking it :’)
